Tina Rules

In these times of economic uncertainty and uncertain economics, one thing holds true - Tina Fey rules.

Her pitch-perfect Sarah Palin impersonation on Saturday Night Live has become even more damaging for the former beauty queen-turned-Republican VP candidate than any news report out there.

In case you missed it, here's how it all started.

Her current hotness is long overdue and besides signing a US$6-mil book deal recently, Tina Fey's creation, 30 Rock, might finally get the mainstream acceptance that the show so deserves with the star-studded 3rd season.

Here's a sneak peek.

All I can say is that I'm so glad I have true broadband now. Now all I need is curtains.

Don't Vote

This goes on for a bit too long, but any ad about voting that has 'sh*t' and 'f*ck' in it is worth watching. And you can also play name that celeb.

One Week In (Sofa So Good)

It's been a week since I made the move from KL to HK and already I've completed my first project at work, collected the keys to my apartment, placed an order for a bed that will arrive in 4 weeks, experienced another typhoon and I'm also planning for a work trip to Seoul next week.

Then there's the business of my cats delayed flight into HK. They were supposed to have arrived last night but with the typhoon churning up strong winds, their flight was delayed 'til 9 this morning, which would mean they will arrive at my apartment, totally freaked out and pissed off, around 4pm today. The apartment's furniture-less but I've got the stuff that I shipped from KL, so I hope that will help with their assimilation into a smaller space.

And I'm also gonna be putting a deposit down today (I think) for a customized sofa. I knew that this time around I didn't want to Ikea-fy my apartment. I went to see the sofa makers that my friend Eugene recommended and they said it'll take about 3 weeks to complete. I've been looking at designs online to get ideas for what would work for my 638sq feet-apartment. It's all very grown up.

Unless of course if I went with this design.

I'll keep you posted.

I'm Still Around

I know it's been quite a while since we've met here.  The last few weeks have been very much about phone calls, emails, quotations, visits to the vet, sorting out who's buying what from my apartment in KL... all because I start my new job next Wednesday.

I'm almost all packed and I've already signed my lease for the apartment in HK.  I"m excited to get back to work, and I'm really looking forward to experiencing a place I used to call home 6 years later, 6 years older and with so much more experience than I could have ever imagined when I first arrived in KL on July 21st, 2002.

Those of you who know me know that I tend to double-book / multi-task / fit as much as I can in a short period of time (in all areas...) and surely enough, with 4 days to go before the move,  I'm currently in Singapore to get a replacement for my misplaced ID card,  I fly out to Bangkok on Saturday morning to celebrate a close friend's 40th birthday, head back to KL on Sunday evening, which will then leave me with about 36 hours or so to finalize the bits and pieces before I fly out to HK.

Maybe it's being older, maybe it's the confidence I feel about my friendships, or maybe it's just the connectivity of Facebook because this time around, with the move to HK and all, I don't feel like I need a farewell to anyone or anything.

And to think that my journey to KL wouldn't have happened if I hadn't had THAT chat with the boss about doing more, which came about after I was stuck in NYC for 2 weeks 7 years ago today.

I'm still around.     See you when I get to HK.

I Have A Date

My days of job-freedomness will soon come to an end. I signed some papers today and I have to start making plans for the new gig. And move.

Which is a good thing. And I've had lots of time to think about what I'm doing, the people in my life and what I want to do, moving forward.

There's some clarity, there's some baggage, and there's also some unfinished business. Suffice to say, there's housekeeping to do, and it's ain't all in my neighbourhood.

It's been a heavy couple of weeks, but this cheered me up to no end. Enjoy the silliness (with thanks to Ben).
