The X-Factor, The Return, The Leak & The Jackass

~ Could the power-coupling of X-Factor favourite/cutie Leon and a resurgent pop diva have helped in crowning the UK's newest X-Factor champ?



I think Kylie is only a handful of women who can make me like lace. And that's a very, very small hand to begin with. And I'm kinda liking that she's bringing curvy back.

~ After 2 albums that flopped - one brought down by a flashed boob, and the other, well, what the heck was 20Y.O. really about anyway? - Janet Jackson has finally jumped ship from (ever-diminishing record label) EMI and signed with Island Def Jam, one of a few labels under the Universal Music Group (world's #1) that can still make and market hits.



Coincidentally, Janet's boyfriend is a senior executive at Island Def Jam. I'm just saying...

The new album is called Discipline and the first single is the production-heavy, beats-driven "Feedback". Have a listen

~ And super-producer Timbaland might have gotten himself in a spot of bother with the Queen of Don't Fuck With Me, a.k.a. Madonna.

He's produced a bunch of songs for Madonna's new album and one of them, 4 Minutes To Save The World, features Justin Timberlake. It's also believed to be the first single from this as-yet-untitled (no, not Licorice) new project.

Timbaland appeared at the city of Philadelphia's Jingle Ball event 2 nights ago and played the song, wihch then got posted on the internet. Warner Music has requested most sites streaming the song to remove it.

~ Can you believe we're just hours away from the announcement for the year's best music?

Well, at least as seen by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), who you might know is the authority that votes on which artists win the much sought-after Grammy Awards.


The music class of 2007 is a motley crew of huge hits and breakout stars - from the ubiquitous hits of Beyonce (Irreplaceable), Justin Timberlake (so many!) & Rihanna (Umbrella), to Kanye's triumphant 3rd album Graduation; Ne-Yo & Amy Winehouse also made huge inroads on the American charts this year, so I'm super curious to see who gets picked.

~ I've been listening to Kylie's new album 'X' almost non-stop over the past week, and I must say that 1 song truly puts me in a good mood. It's simply titled 'Wow' and the pompom dress that Kylie's sporting in this performance (from ITV's The Kylie Show) just adds to general fun-ness of this ditty. I love it!

Music Whore and So Much More!

The publicity machinery for Kylie's new album 'X' is in full swing, complete with appearance at high profile events, that TV special that aired on ITV this past Saturday, and now, the unveiling of new publicity photos.

As you can imagine, they're a nice mix of naughty and nice, but this one's a bit tranny-rific! If you wanna see them all, click here.

And after watching this 'live' version of her single '2 Hearts', which she performed on France's Star Academy, I'm beginning to believe that the song can work, though I still think it's not her strongest tune.




The Spice Girls (who weren't even girls the 1st time around!) have been coiffed and buffed and air-brushed to perfection in their new promotional pictures for their great hits collection and upcoming world tour.

Nice, but can Melanie C (a.k.a. PE Teacher Spice, 2nd from right) be any more ordinary-looking?


After Radiohead's worldwide headline-making 'Pay What You Want' campaign for their new album 'In Rainbows', their old record label EMI is making available all of the band's back catalogue in various formats, including on a special edition Radiohead Bear USB.

Cool, but between US$63 and US$167, yowza, pricey!


Filming started in Hong Kong last week for Batman: The Dark Knight.

Fierce on Friday!

The Kylie Show airs tomorrow night on Britain's ITV and this TV special showcases Kylie performing her previous hits, as well as music from the new album, X.

Fans will find this shot reminiscent of her Agent Provocateur ad from some years back.


Ugly Betty's hotly anticipated wedding episode looks set to be yet another hour of can-you-believe-this camp madness on network television.

The storyline featuring Wilhelmina Slater's wedding (to publisher Bradford Meade) is primed for primo ratings, and comes complete with from some serious star power.

Designer Vera Wang, hamming it up as herself, is on hand to dress Wilhelmina and her celebrity bridesmaid, one Victoria Beckham, in a scene that's bound to inspire drag queens and parodists all over the world.

And finally, some of you might have seen this one already - Amy Winehouse was a hot mess when she performed in Munich at the EMAs last week. Her slurred speech, glazed over eyes and shakiness aside, it's a fierce performance by a woman who the critics love and the audience can't wait to see fully implode.

X Made My Heart Beat Rock

I listened to Kylie's new album 'X' (legally, streaming only so don't ask me to email you the songs) and I really like it.

The first single "2 Hearts" is very reminiscent of Goldfrapp and I'm not totally digging it yet, but I know that it'll have killer remixes that will have the dance floor heaving. Here's the brand new video that I'm also not totally into.

Other notable songs on the album are Heart Beat Rock, Sensitized, In My Arms, The One and Wow.

Note to self: Having 4 glasses of vodka after 4 glasses of red wine is not good.

X Marks The Spot

More information coming through on Kylie's new album, including

- 13 new songs, one of which (Sensitized) lists Guy Chambers (Robbie William's hit-making partner), Cathy Dennis (Kylie's regular songwriter of sorts) and get this, Serge Gainsbourg as writers. Which could only mean a sexy Gainsbourg lyric or melody which we can expect to hear sampled.

- This brand new image for the single that's decidedly very 80's.


- The album will also be released in the US, which means that Kylie will be busy, busy, busy promoting X.

- A somewhat bizarre (but interesting) online story speculates on 'X' as the chosen title for Kylie's 10th studio album. Besides being the Roman numeral for 10, the report makes a connection to Michael Hutchence (Kylie's ex): her new album will be released on the 10th anniversary of Michael's death (apparently from erotic auto-asphyxiation). And INXS, the band that Michael fronted, also had an album that was titled 'X'.

Whatever the case might be, the hype and buzz on X have started.
